Email Ms. Mentzer

Mrs. Mentzer is a life-long Kalamazoo area resident. Mrs. Mentzer earned her Associates Degree from Kalamazoo Valley Community College, A Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education-Mathematics and earned her Masters of Arts Degree in Counseling Education and Counseling Psychology. Both of these degrees were from Western Michigan University. Mrs. Mentzer joined the Kalamazoo Central High School counseling staff in the fall of 2019. Prior to that she was the counselor for 26 years at Climax-Scotts Junior/Senior High School.

Ms. Fullerton is a proud alumni of Kalamazoo Central High School. She has an Associate degree in Early Childhood Education from KVCC; a Bachelor of Arts in Middle Grades Education from Clark Atlanta University; and has her Masters of Arts in Counselor Education grades 6-12. Ms. Fullerton joined the Kalamazoo Central High School counseling staff in the fall of 2014. Prior to that, she was a middle/high school counselor in Covert, Michigan.

Mrs. Garrison is from Wahpeton, North Dakota, but now resides in Portage. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Minnesota in 1998, a Masters of Education from National Louis University in 2002 and a Masters of Arts in School Counseling from Spring Arbor University in 2016. She has one year counseling experience in Winthrop, Minnesota and one year of middle school counseling experience in Dowagiac, MI. She joined the School Counseling staff at Kalamazoo Central in the fall of 2019.

Mrs. Hampel is originally from Minnesota and moved to Kalamazoo in 2014. She attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison for undergraduate and graduate school and earned her Masters of Science in Counseling in 2006. In Wisconsin, she gained experience working with youth in community organizations and schools. She moved to the east side of Michigan in 2011 and worked at the high school level before moving to Kalamazoo. Prior to joining the Kalamazoo Central team, she was a middle school counselor at Gull Lake Middle School for 8 years.

Mr. Kroes is from Kalamazoo, Michigan, and attended Otsego High School. He earned his Bachelor's and teaching degree in Physical Education from Grand Valley State University in 1999, and his Master's degree in Counseling Education from Western Michigan University in 2010. He taught Physical Education for Kalamazoo Public Schools for 9 years and is in his 9th year of School Counseling in the district including time spent at Linden Grove Middle School and the Alternative Learning Program (ALP)
